Did you know ? Shark fetuses fight and eat each other while still in the womb. The one that is left alive is the only one that is born, what a cruel nature.
Since Sharks babies eat each other in the womb may not worth worrying about its species, but Australian scientists are trying to save them from themselves.
The researchers from Australia Government are working to develop an artificial uterus in which grey nurse shark embryos can grow without being eaten by their siblings.
By the time the embryos get to about 10 cm long at around four months, they have a fully developed, functional set of jaws and they begin to eat their siblings. It seems logical as the evolutionary advantage to ensure the survival of the fittest, but it may be the luck of the draw because even the biggest could be attacked.
